Condolence: Blessings to the spirit of Ken Czillinger. My sister Clare told a lot of the history he had with our family. He helped our whole family through the grieving process when my sister Jean died in 1973 and I was only an 11 year old child. He was a constant friend and presence to our family. He had that perfect balance of warmth and professionalism. He felt like Uncle Ken...a family member to me...a person who could really deeply listen and feel what your might be feeling. It was refreshing to have someone so good at relecting back to you what he heard you say. Good skills to model...since in a big family often it is hard to feel listened to. It felt very special to our family that Ken would actually hold a mass in honor of my sister at our home for years after her death. That helped us to keep her memory alive, modeling a healthy way to channel those emotions. Instead of sweeping her memory under the rug...we celebrated her life...kind of a new concept. I thank Ken for coming to the assisted living where my Mom Rita was dying last December...she got to see him before she died...and we all prayed with him. I know that meant so much to my mom.Now we celebrate and honor the life of our lifelong friend Ken Czillinger...( I always loved his last name and enjoyed hearing about the origins of it!)BLESSINGS ON YOUR JOURNEY KEN from Judy Ulmschneider.

Condolence From: Peggy Mosher
Condolence: I am so sorry to hear of Ken's passing. My memories of him go back to my high school years and continue up to the present. One time he took me to dinner and listened all evening until we realized we were the only ones left in the restaurant. He only asked about me, not focused on himself. He was present as our son, Pete, was battling a lung disease, awaiting a transplant and after he died. Now when our family prays, "May the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace," we substitute as Pete did, "May the souls of the faithful departed be rocking out," with an enthusiastic fist in the air. I imagine he and Pete are rocking it out together in the light of God's face.

Condolence From: Clare Ulmschneider Sikic
Condolence: Ken was a long time friend of my parents Rene and Rita Ulmschneider and he helped my whole family when our 18 year old sister Jean died back in 1973 , saying her funeral Mass with a very memorable/eloquent homily and for many years after, a memorial anniversary Mass at our home. Ken was the priest who married me and my husband Adrian in 1983. He was top in his field as an expert in death and dying in his years as a priest and as a hospice chaplain and as an educator. I will always be inspired by how he cared for his brother Tom for many years. Ken helped Mom with her grief when Dad did in 2009. He regularly visited my Mom when she became a resident at West Park .He supported my Mom when she endured the loss of 2 more of her children Helen and Joey just year a part.Just last year he came several times to be with my Mom as she was dying under hospice care , and the last time I saw him was at her funeral last December. I know my Mom and Dad and 3 siblings will welcome Ken into heaven, but I just never ever thought it would be so soon...Ken you have been an inspiration to many in your life and you will be truly missed. I extend my sincere condolences to your family and friends.You have touched many lives and will be long remembered. Your spirit will live on in all your life's deeds-you have sewn many seeds educating many...the world will not be the same without you! I can see you smiling from the heavens and your eyes twinkling in the stars and I know you are at peace.42

Condolence From: Fred and Julie Loach
Condolence: Condolences to family and friends on Ken’s passing. He was a dear friend to our family for more than forty-five years. Julie met Ken through Barbara while she was in college. We shared many happy visits over the years, in Cincinnati and in various places where our family lived, including Alberta and Ontario, Canada. He enjoyed two trips to the Canadian Rockies with us. Ken was also a good friend to Julie’s parents and grandparents in Findlay, Ohio, visiting her mother there just a couple years ago when her father died.
Ken shared much of life with us and supported us through many trials. There were many times over the years that Julie benefited greatly from Ken’s listening ear, but none moreso than after our son, Tim, Ken’s godson, passed away a year ago.
We will remember Ken’s cheerful smile, optimistic outlook, and consistent logic. It was an honour to know him.

Condolence: Ken was an inspiration to me and grief work for the Cincinnati area. He was a wonderful listener and mentor. Lives have been changed through the years by his compassion and persistent effort. I remember working with him on the Tri- State Suicide Prevention committee. He was consistent in his beliefs and always available to provide another perspective. I will always remember his laugh, which we did together often!
